Our Pre-Kindergarten program continues what our preschool program has begun, with an added focus on equipping children with the skills needed for kindergarten. Literacy and pre-writing skills are heavily emphasized in all learning experiences. Children are encouraged to problem solve, cooperate, and communicate daily with our hands-on learning approach. Teachers and students discover threads of learning through play and classroom project work. These projects continue over several months, allowing children to delve deeper and explore topics to their fullest extent. All domains of learning are fostered through this process.
Children at this stage make huge strides in their development, particularly in the social-emotional area. Our teachers guide students by helping them to solve interpersonal conflicts, modeling words of encouragement and respect for others. Our Pre-Kindergarten classes put these skills into practice through community involvement and volunteer work throughout the year.
Two foreign languages are offered, French and Spanish, as well as music once a month with K-Town kids. Other extracurricular opportunities can be added for children, such as dance and soccer.
